HALIFAX WANTS TO KILL MY DOG!
On July 24, 2008, my dog Brindi was seized and put on death row. When I adopted her in 2007 she was four. She passed obedience class, but then had a few scrapes with other dogs on our property line. Most resulted in no injuries. She’s never bit a person. In an unheard of move, the city muzzled her and called her dangerous, without charging me a fine. I apologized, gated the exits, built a dog run, and hired a private trainer, but Halifax would not give her back. I hired a behavioral expert, who found Brindi highly trainable. The city ignored the results. I paid thousands to get the euthanization order quashed. But the city ignored this too, and kept Brindi in the pound, then charged me with 3 by-law violations, first ever, keeping her throughout, without proper legal authority. The trial stretched out till spring 2010. I didn’t get Brindi back until July. About two months later Halifax took her again after another incident in front of my property – again minor injuries only - and again, she did not bite people even though they kicked her in the head and stomach! The city refused all offers to release her pending trial, including adoption and removal from the country. The trial is now Nov. 8-9. I am defending myself and Brindi, alone. (click photo)
